Terms of Service

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use DailyBread.

You must also satisfy any higher minimum age requirement that applies to you under the laws of the jurisdiction where you live.

By creating or using a DailyBread account, you confirm that you meet these requirements.

DailyBread uses Discord for authentication. You must also comply with Discord's applicable age requirements and Terms of Service.

If you are under the age of legal majority in your jurisdiction, your parent or legal guardian may need to consent to your use of the service or these Terms where required by applicable law.

2. The DailyBread Service

DailyBread provides tools that allow users and Discord communities to:

• Authenticate using Discord;
• Connect Discord servers to DailyBread;
• Manage DailyBread integrations;
• Configure Discord webhooks;
• Create and send Discord embeds;
• Create and send supported Discord component-based messages;
• Search for Bible verses and passages;
• Use supported Bible translations;
• Send Scripture and user-created content to Discord;
• Access documentation and developer resources; and
• Use other features that DailyBread may introduce.

DailyBread is provided as a free service.

We may modify, add, remove, suspend, or discontinue features at any time.

3. Discord Integration

DailyBread uses Discord's services and APIs to provide authentication and Discord functionality.

When you connect Discord to DailyBread, we may receive information authorized through the applicable Discord OAuth2 permissions, including information such as your Discord user identifier, username, display name, avatar, and information about servers and related resources necessary to operate DailyBread.

DailyBread does not represent or imply that it is owned, operated, endorsed, sponsored, or officially affiliated with Discord Inc.

Your use of Discord remains subject to Discord's own Terms of Service and policies.

You are responsible for ensuring that you have appropriate authorization to connect or configure DailyBread for a Discord server.

4. Server and Community Responsibility

If you use DailyBread for a Discord server, you represent that you have sufficient authority to configure the DailyBread integration for that server.

Server owners, administrators, moderators, and communities remain responsible for:

• The content they create;
• The content they distribute through DailyBread;
• The users they permit to access DailyBread;
• Their Discord server's rules;
• Their moderation decisions; and
• Compliance with applicable Discord rules and policies.

DailyBread provides technical tools and does not become the operator or moderator of your Discord community merely because you use the service.

5. User Content

Users may create content through DailyBread, including:

• Text;
• Bible references;
• Embed content;
• Links;
• Images;
• Mentions;
• Formatting; and
• Other content supported by the service.

You retain ownership of content that you independently create, subject to the rights of third parties.

You grant DailyBread the limited permission necessary to process, store, transmit, display, and deliver your content solely to provide the features you request.

You are responsible for ensuring that you have the rights necessary to use content you submit.

You must not use DailyBread to distribute content that violates applicable law, third-party rights, Discord policies, or these Terms.

6. Community Content and Moderation

DailyBread is a tooling platform and does not generally pre-approve content created by users or communities.

The community using DailyBread is responsible for the content it creates and distributes.

If content violates these Terms, applicable law, or the rules of a connected platform, DailyBread may take appropriate action, including removing access to the relevant functionality or account.

7. Acceptable Use

You may not use DailyBread to:

• Spam users, channels, servers, or webhooks;
• Abuse Discord webhooks;
• Circumvent Discord rate limits;
• Circumvent DailyBread rate limits or security controls;
• Evade Discord moderation or enforcement;
• Impersonate another person, organization, or service;
• Gain unauthorized access to accounts, servers, channels, databases, systems, or credentials;
• Distribute malware or malicious software;
• Attempt to compromise DailyBread infrastructure;
• Probe or exploit security vulnerabilities without authorization;
• Abuse APIs or intentionally generate excessive traffic;
• Interfere with the availability or operation of DailyBread;
• Use DailyBread to facilitate illegal activity;
• Violate copyright, trademark, privacy, or other intellectual-property rights;
• Use DailyBread to distribute content that violates applicable law;
• Abuse authentication systems or OAuth credentials;
• Attempt to extract protected credentials or secrets;
• Circumvent technical restrictions;
• Use DailyBread to evade enforcement actions imposed by Discord or another service; or
• Assist another person in performing any prohibited activity.

8. Bible Content

Bible translations available through DailyBread may be provided by third-party Bible providers and rights holders.

Bible text is not owned by DailyBread unless specifically identified as DailyBread-original content.

Different Bible translations may have different copyright, licensing, attribution, quotation, caching, and distribution requirements.

DailyBread may restrict, modify, or discontinue access to a translation if its provider or rights holder requires it.

Users must not treat DailyBread as granting ownership or unrestricted redistribution rights to Bible translations.

9. Intellectual Property

DailyBread Development owns or licenses the intellectual property associated with DailyBread, including, where applicable:

• The DailyBread name;
• DailyBread branding and original logos;
• Website design;
• Original software;
• Original documentation;
• Original interface designs;
• Original devotional material created by DailyBread; and
• Other original DailyBread materials.

Third-party intellectual property remains owned by its respective owners.

Nothing in these Terms transfers ownership of DailyBread intellectual property to you.

DailyBread may make portions of its frontend source code available under separate open-source licenses. Where an open-source license applies, that license controls the applicable software.

10. User Use of Generated Content

You may copy, share, and distribute content you create using DailyBread, subject to:

• The rights of third parties;
• Applicable Bible translation licenses;
• Copyright restrictions;
• Discord rules;
• These Terms; and
• Any applicable license attached to third-party material.

DailyBread does not grant additional rights to copyrighted Bible translations merely because the content was generated or formatted using DailyBread.

11. Commercial Use

DailyBread is currently provided without a subscription fee or advertising-based monetization.

Users may use DailyBread as a tool in connection with their own communities or activities, including activities that may otherwise be commercial, only where the applicable third-party content and service licenses permit that use.

This does not grant permission to commercially use Bible translations or other third-party content where the applicable license prohibits commercial use.

DailyBread may change this policy or restrict particular uses if required by a provider or rights holder.

12. Availability

DailyBread is provided on an availability basis and may experience:

• Downtime;
• Maintenance;
• Server failures;
• Database failures;
• Network failures;
• Cloudflare outages;
• IONOS outages;
• Discord outages;
• API failures;
• Bible provider outages;
• Rate limits;
• Software errors;
• Data synchronization failures; or
• Other service interruptions.

DailyBread does not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation.

13. Data Loss

Although DailyBread uses backup and security measures, data loss may occur.

DailyBread may maintain PostgreSQL backups using third-party infrastructure.

You acknowledge that backups may be incomplete, delayed, unavailable, corrupted, or otherwise unable to restore particular information.

You should not rely on DailyBread as the sole repository for information that you cannot afford to lose.

14. Account Suspension and Termination

DailyBread may restrict, suspend, or terminate an account where reasonably necessary to:

• Address violations of these Terms;
• Address abuse or spam;
• Protect DailyBread or its users;
• Respond to Discord or provider requirements;
• Address unauthorized access;
• Address security incidents;
• Comply with legal obligations; or
• Prevent continued misuse of the service.

Where appropriate, DailyBread may use a process involving:

1. Warning or notification;
2. An opportunity to correct the behavior;
3. Temporary suspension;
4. Appeal or review; and
5. Termination where appropriate.

Serious abuse, security threats, illegal activity, or other circumstances requiring immediate action may result in immediate temporary restriction or suspension.

15. Appeals

A user may appeal an account action by contacting:

Appeals should be submitted within 7 days of the relevant account action.

After the applicable appeal period, DailyBread may proceed with deletion of account-associated data according to its retention policy.

16. Account Disconnection and Deletion

You may disconnect your DailyBread account.

When an account is disconnected, DailyBread intends to delete associated account data within 7 days, subject to:

• Legal obligations;
• Security requirements;
• Fraud prevention;
• Required records;
• Backup retention; and
• Other legitimate operational requirements.

Server-associated data may similarly be deleted within 7 days after the DailyBread integration is removed from the relevant server, subject to the same limitations.

17. Delivery Records

DailyBread may retain delivery records associated with messages sent through the service.

Delivery records are intended to be retained for approximately 30 days after delivery, after which they are deleted according to the service's retention process.

18. Data Requests

Users may request:

• Access to their data;
• A copy/export of their data;
• Deletion of their data; or
• Other privacy-related assistance.

DailyBread may request sufficient information to verify which account or records are associated with the request.

19. Changes to These Terms

DailyBread may update these Terms as the service changes, legal requirements change, or operational requirements change.

The "Last Updated" date will identify the current version.

Material changes may be communicated through the website or other reasonable means.

20. Disclaimer

DailyBread is provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis to the extent permitted by applicable law.

DailyBread does not guarantee that:

• The service will always be available;
• Messages will always be delivered;
• APIs will always function;
• Bible providers will remain available;
• Data will never be lost;
• Third-party services will remain operational; or
• Every feature will operate without errors.

21. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, DailyBread Development and its developers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or similar damages arising from use of or inability to use DailyBread.

Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded.

22. Third-Party Services

DailyBread depends on third-party services including, as applicable:

• Discord;
• Cloudflare;
• IONOS;
• YouVersion;
• API.Bible;
• PostgreSQL; and
• Supabase.

Those services are operated independently and may have their own terms, privacy policies, availability limitations, and data practices.

23. No Affiliation

DailyBread Development is independently operated.

DailyBread is not officially affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or operated by Discord, YouVersion, API.Bible, Cloudflare, IONOS, Supabase, or the respective owners of Bible translations available through the service unless explicitly stated otherwise.
